Research My scientific interests lie in the radiation and radiochemistry of nuclear fuel cycle related challenges, with particular emphasis on the effects of radiation on the components of used nuclear fuel reprocessing solvent systems and molten salt media. I focus on understanding the fundamental mechanistic processes occurring in these systems in the presence of an ionizing radiation field, from ultra-fast to steady-state timescales. For example, radiation-induced redox chemistry of the actinides, and the reaction-kinetics of radiolytic transients with novel reprocessing extractants.
